Studio Brief 1 - Designer Speed dating exercise feedback

  • Simplifying the cover of the publication should be something to consider, as the book will be primarily photography based and heavily visual.
  • Touching on the themes of healthy eating and recipes that work for vegans, the use of recyclable paper for the stock may be something to consider. This is because the potential audience is likely to also be conscious of environmentally friendly products.
  • Suggest looking into brands that use environmentally friendly stock. (e.g. PETA)
  • Look at how medical branding is used for similar products in competition. For example, protein powder sellers are likely to show a more medical graphic approach to their product design.
  • Think about where the medical products such as this are likely to be sold and understand where your publication would sit in the market place.
  • Hardback, semi-gloss cover would probably be the most appropriate stock to use for the publication. This is likely to be at A5 size so that it can be handy and accessible to anyone that wishes to start eating healthy. Making it in this size means that it is easily accessible when on the go.
  • Could possibly use footnotes to add humorous comments about the recipes, or as a directional use.
  • Find binding that is cost effective, but will still communicate to an audience that it is well made.
