Design Practice - Studio Brief 1 - Evaluation
In conclusion to the project, I believe that this has helped me to gather a wider understanding of how a publicist may design a book cover based on certain themes or objects relating to a book. Through the use of peer critiques, I have also been able to receive feedback on which design processes and approaches are most appropriate for a book. This is important, as the aim is to make sure the cover itself is communicating an intended message or meaning to the audience. It has also given me a better understanding of how a project like this can be approached during the initial stages. For example, through the extensive analysis of existing book covers, it became possible to gather information and ideas about how to start designs of my own. By using a method that requires you to practice designs through quick thumbnail sketches, it was easier and quicker to determine which designs would be most successful when developed toward the final stages of the project.
