These imagined subjects would be based on the first essay draft and the question of whether technology will change as society changes. By imagining new subjects to be taught in schools, the plan was to advertise this to secondary school students, in an attempt to encourage more people to pursue careers in industries that may be important in the future.
The first example of this was the design for a medical subject, as a way to encourage students to pursue careers in medicine. This was because the essay looked at the ways that humanity has become dependent on medicine and vaccines. The idea of the design was to show a grid of cells, similar to the biology link to the subject.
The idea for a different brochure, was to look at how technology requires coding to program certain things. As the essay looked at the growing technological advancements in the work place, it meant that many employers would require employees to have knowledge of current technology.
Therefore the design was made as a way to encourage students to pursue a career in coding or programming technology. The idea behind this design was to mimic lines of code within the branches of a tree. This way it could communicate to people the ways that the technology industry is ever growing and in high demand for new employees.
After assessing these initial starting points with peers however, it was clear that they were not strong enough ideas to use for the communication of the essay. Therefore at this point it was necessary to look back at the essay and adjust the subject matter, so that there would be more plausible evidence to link to the practical investigation.
It would also give the essay a better opportunity to be improved in the sense that it would have a stronger claim than the draft version. By looking at more reliable sources and linking them to the practical investigation, there would be a better chance to communicate the ideas through the use of graphic design.
