The idea of the campaign was to create advertising content, particularly for the Bumble BFF and Bumble Bizz features. Therefore, using the colours that were particular to these section would separate and identify each advert. The quotes in blue would be about friendship, whereas the quotes in pink would be business or collaboration related.
Trying the first few designs were also tried using Helvetica Bold, as it was similar in weight to the other typefaces and allowed for more speculation on how the text should be situated within the designs.
These quotes were also tested using each variation of the app's colour schemes.
Incorporating elements of Bumble's signature honey comb imagery also helped the designs to look more authentic. Mixing the colours schemes of BFF and Bizz together was one of the options for quotes that could be seen as both friendly and collaborative.
Having created the quotes with Instagram in mind, they were all made using horizontal structure. However, as the brief states, portrait design will be needed so that the poster can be displayed within the London Underground advertising boards.
The quotes that were longer, are likely to be either used for the online advertising or in the video story board, at a later stage in the project.
Trying the designs on different backgrounds in this way, allowed for an understanding of how the eye perceives the layout. In this case, the black background could work, but when pairing the yellow with white text on top, it didn't work as successfully.
The focus of this idea was that the honey comb effect would be shaped in the style of a heart.
Before deciding the move onto the development stage of our ideas, we thought about how icons could potentially be introduced into the designs. These would either utilise the existing logo in some way, or they would create new images that would relate to the company's branding.
By taking inspiration from recognisable signs and incorporating them into the design, it was possible to communicate ideas of feminism, peace and unity. The symbol to the left shows the female symbol mixed with a hexagon, much like the ones used by Bumble. The fist design to the right also uses the hexagon shapes and is seen as a symbol of unity among people who stand up against oppression. To the top right, a hexagon has been split into two parts like jigsaw pieces. This is to highlight how users may be able to find other people to collaborate with.
Another option to look into was the ways in which photography could be incorporated during development. Here, we can see quotes based on friendship and the memories we make when having a good time with one another.
The images in the background highlight exactly what the quotes mean and places the viewer in a situation where they can imagine themselves being at the events or parties.
