OUGD505 - SB2 - Initial Ideas feedback and project direction

After establishing several approaches to the task, it became clear once the ideas were presented, that there are other potential avenues in which to take the investigation. Presenting the ideas in a presentation made it possible to describe the intentions of the project and how it plans to incorporate design as its primary focus.

Feedback from peers:

  • look at vice documentaries relating to the debate.
  • social experiments involving non users. e.g. the old women who try cannabis for the first time.
  • look at how the older generations are influenced or persuaded.
  • look at US laws that prove health benefits of cannabis
  • why was it criminalised?
  • the new laws put in place in legal states in the US.
  • try creating other designs for different packaging. e.g. medical packaging.
  • look at other ways to promote a business. e.g. website layout for cannabis sales
It was also pointed out that the project was mostly centred around US laws and the changes in opinion around the country. There may need to be more justification for the project being applied to Britain and its values or laws. From the feedback given at this stage, there will be a broader range of options to choose from in terms of how to investigate the topic. There is also now more room for reference and experimentations of different types.
